Understanding Your Target Audience on Different Platforms

By Sarah Kotwica, Summer Intern

It can be difficult understanding the difference between all the different social media apps and who they are marketed to.

As a business owner who is looking to branch off into social media, you first need to understand who your specific target audience will be for your content.

For example,

If you are a brewery business owner, you will be marketing your product to people ages 21 and up. That seems simple, right?

Well, this is where social media strategy comes into play.

As a social media agency, there are many different platforms we can utilize to get your brand out to the right audience. Knowing which platforms work best for your specific target market is key.

In 2022, we have seen a distinct divide between the different social media platforms and the age groups who use them.

Generally, we see more people in the age range of 25-60 using the social media platform Facebook. This is not to say they are not on other platforms as well, but if your target market is focused in that age range, utilizing Facebook might make your brand reach your desired audience better.

Instagram has a wide age  range of users as well. Kids as young as 13 are using the platform and we can see people in their later years using this platform as well. Instagram would be a great platform to promote any business as it can reach wider audiences and lead to referrals.

TikTok is newer but has made a huge mark on the brand marketing business. The younger generations are the ones who are using this platform the most, however, what we have seen which is super interesting is TikTok videos going viral and then being shared on other social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram.

With all this information, and more stats and strategy on the back end, RCL Media can push your content and grow your business in no time!
